About OptionYield

The options income tool we wished existed.

OptionYield is an independent, mobile-first scanner for covered calls and cash-secured puts — built so any income investor can find high-yield opportunities, see the exact math behind every contract, and trust that the numbers on screen are real.

Why we're building this

OptionYield started with a frustration every income investor knows. You want to write a covered call or a cash-secured put, so you open a chain viewer built for desktop traders, wait on quotes that may or may not be fresh, and squint at a spreadsheet to work out whether the premium is actually worth the risk. The yield math — the entire reason you looked — is hidden behind a paywall, or never shown at all.

Trust is the other problem. Too many tools quietly fill gaps in their data with numbers that look plausible and aren’t real. When you’re deciding whether to commit capital to a trade, a silently fabricated quote is worse than no quote at all. You deserve to know which numbers are live, which are modeled, and which are missing.

So we set out to build the tool we always wanted: a fast, phone-first scanner purpose-built for the two strategies income investors actually run — covered calls and cash-secured puts — fed by a live data pipeline, with every formula printed right next to the results it produces, and a plain “ESTIMATED” label on anything that isn’t a direct market quote. No paywalled math. No mystery numbers.

OptionYield is an independent project, and we think that’s a feature. There’s no institutional roadmap to appease — just a short list of beliefs we refuse to compromise on, listed below.

What we believe

Six principles shape every decision in the product, from how quotes stream in to what we refuse to ship.

Transparent math

Static return, annualized yield, downside protection, max profit, OTM% — every formula is shown inline, next to the number it produces. Nothing hidden, nothing paywalled.

Honest data

Hybrid bid/ask estimates are explicitly tagged “ESTIMATED” — never silently fabricated. When data is unavailable you get a real error, not a plausible-looking fake.

Live, always fresh

Spot prices and option quotes stream in over a realtime pipeline and refresh automatically on a short heartbeat. No pull-to-refresh, no stale numbers.

Mobile-first, period

The whole workflow — scan, analyze, save, revisit — is designed for the phone in your pocket. Income investing shouldn’t require a trading desk.

Privacy-first

No ad SDKs, no data selling, no tracking — just the app you trusted us to build.

Focused by design

Covered calls and cash-secured puts — the two core income strategies — done exceptionally well, rather than a dozen strategies done shallowly.

Where we are today

IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT · LAUNCHING SOON ON iOS & ANDROID

The app is built and running against a live market-data pipeline. Right now we’re hardening it for its public debut on the App Store and Google Play — and when it ships, the launch list hears about it first.

Already working

  • Live spot prices and options data streaming over a realtime pipeline
  • The scanner: minimum annualized yield, minimum OTM%, expiry, and the optional 30-day boundary rule
  • Focus Mode: full yield breakdowns with every formula shown
  • Watchlist and saved scans that persist between sessions
  • Full dark and light themes, designed phone-first

What’s next

  • App Store and Google Play debut — launch-list members get the link by email
  • Beta invites and early feedback rounds along the way
  • Sharpening the scanner and yield math from what real users trade
  • More strategies someday — but only after these two are flawless

What OptionYield isn’t

Three things this product will never be: your broker, your advisor, or a crystal ball. We don’t execute trades or hold funds, we don’t tell you what to buy or sell, and no screener can promise returns — options involve substantial risk and are not suitable for every investor. What we can promise is honest numbers and visible math, so the decisions stay where they belong: with you. The details are in our Terms of Service, and how we handle your data is in the Privacy Policy — it’s short, and we’re proud of it.
